I have owned this Total Custom 1978 Ford Bronco for over 30 years. She has been rebuilt 3 times in her life span. Each time we concentrated on different aspects and keep improving her. This last time I went Street Custom and detuned the Differential Gears back to 3:55, Removed the 4 ½” lift & installed 4 New Rancho 2 ½” Lift Springs, Tied her down with Front & Rear Sway Bars & added tire to tire Running Boards. She is a lot More Street able now days, but make no mistake she can hold her off road, and could be more so with the removal of the Sway Bars. Since the last rebuilt she has less than 5500 miles on her.
Today she sits with a Highly modified 400 modified engine, TRW 30 over Forged pistons with 9.1 compression, ported heads with Harden Seats, Oversized exhaust valves for flow & All Stainless Steel Valves and special Locks and Keepers, Bronze Valve Guides, Roller Rockers Arm with big block GM Guide Plates, Modified (1406) 600 Edelbrock Carburetor designed for all angles of 4 wheeling, Topped with a K&N Air Filter & Cleaner, Headman Headers with 2 ½” Dual Performance Exhaust for Torque which Sound Great. Hi Pressure Power Steering Pump designed for a PTO, Power Master Hi Output Alternator, New HT Starter, Holly Electric Fuel Pump, Two Extra Custom 16 Gallon Saddle Tanks mounted up in the Frame out of the way. The Transmission has a Stage 2 Shift Kit, with Additional Steel & Friction Clutches & a Tow Torque Converter. The Transfer Case has been gone thru and freshen up, Super Duty Drive Lines with Special U Joints, Dual Electric Fans, Hawk Brakes, and of Course a Rotary R12 Air Condition. A set of Hi Output (Hehehe) Hella Head Light (100/120w), Turns the Night into Day! A Custom 3-inch tube .135 thick Brush / Push Bar, a reinforced front end for Flat Towing with D Rings. That can handle a 12000 LB Winch with a few Modifications, An upgraded class 3-4 Receiver hitch. She sits on New 32x11.5x15 BF Goodrich A/T-TA-KO, with Chrome Spokes. Along with several Theft Deterrents, including a Removable Grant Steering Wheel.
In Full Transparency she was stolen back on New Year’s Day 2001 and stripped of all tires, rims, stereo, then they broke her fiberglass top and all glass, and gauges. She was recovered about 3 hours later with no damage to the drive train or body. But the insurance company demanded she be “Totaled” so she lives with a “Savage Title”
As seen in some of these pictures, the last restoration was quiet detail in the body & paint work. The Roll bar was installed which is .194 wall welded into the frame, the entire interior was coated with a Rhino Liner style of coating. After that was done, It did not dampen the sound like I was hoping, so I Sound Coated the entire interior with 3 boxes of “Cache” music sound distortion material, which was not cheap. Then installed a sheet of Aluminum over the corrugated bed to make it smooth for sleeping on during camping trips. Then had my upholstery guy install the top of the line ½ inch padding under ## “Bentley” Carpet. With 2 top of the line “Corbeau” Lumbar Support, Heated Bucket Seats, Power Windows with Retro Crank power switches. A New Dash Pad and this Bronco is Better than New.
Check out the One of a Kind Custom Aluminum Dash, with a Full Line of Auto Meter Gauges. Topped off with a High Power Kenworth Stereo hooked up to 4 top of the line Speakers with external feed for outside Speakers.
I have invested over $50,000 in this truck over the years. I have seen several 1978 or 79 Broncos “For Sale” on many different sites that are much less of a truck for ## high prices. I have priced Her at $16000 Firm. Check out the Pictures, you will be impressed. If you don’t think she’s worth $16K move on. There’s other Trucks out there that you can invest more Money & Time into and get less out of. If you’re looking for a 1978 or 79 Bronco, This is the One for You! 1979 is the 1st year of the Catalytic Exhaust
